Wines & Prologues

Drunk on words and sky-bound thoughts

You know what hurts?
It’s not the hurtful words that seemed to claw your heart out.
It’s not the memories you once smiled endlessly for.
It’s not the late-night conversations, the random check-ins, or the silly little inside jokes.

It’s not those that hurt.

You know what really hurts?
It’s the quiet realization at the end of the day when you think, β€œOh… it just wouldn’t work.”
It’s the idea that there was a possibilityβ€”until there wasn’t.
It’s the heavy sighs as you check your phone, hoping for that one name to pop up.

It’s the kind of hurt you carry in the corner of your mind.

The kind you sleep with.
Wake up with.
Tuck away because there’s no place else for it to go.

It’s the kind of hurt that doesn’t cryβ€”because what’s the point?

It’s the kind that smilesβ€”because what else can you do?
